Lightning Detector

Latest addition to the weather station is the lightning detector.  Good for a range of about 100km and will count any detected strikes within this range. The detector resets daily at midnight and the graph below will show cumulative strikes during the day up until this point.

This isn’t really the right way to display this data. Ideally it should just show strike per 5 minute interval ie. a rate, but that will take a little more thinking on my part. Ultimately it should be possible to show both the rate of detected strikes and the daily aggregation on the one graph. Some work to be done then…

Currently living in the garage it will join the anemometer on the mast once I can find a reasonably priced supplier of aluminium box section to mount it.
